Zangilan International Airport Lighting Project

As Pamir Lighting, we delivered the lighting solutions for Zangilan International Airport in the Zangilan region of Azerbaijan. In an airport terminal that welcomes large numbers of passengers every day, our aim was to create a bespoke lighting scheme that expresses the architecture powerfully while offering passengers a comfortable environment.

The highlight of the project was the large-scale light forms we created on the terminal ceiling with the Galaksi Freedom modular system. Because arc and straight modules can be joined end to end, we were able to design custom geometries at sizes that would not be possible with standard luminaires. As part of this, we installed two oval forms: one measuring 7 x 23 metres and the other 4 x 17.5 metres. In addition, we created four circular forms, two of them 22 metres in diameter and the other two 24 metres in diameter.

These giant rings and ovals of light create a strong visual impact within the terminal's vast volume, turning the lighting into one of the signature design elements of the space. The continuous lines of light offer passengers an aesthetic experience while providing uniform lighting across large areas. The height-adjustable steel wire suspension system allowed these large forms to be positioned precisely on the ceiling.

For complementary lighting, we used Recessed COB Downlights. With a clean design that blends into the ceiling, an aluminium body offering effective cooling performance and LUMILEDS LED modules rated at 60,000 hours, these luminaires provide balanced and long-lasting lighting throughout the terminal.

The Galaksi Freedom system features a satin-finished anodised aluminium body, LUMILEDS, OSRAM and NICHIA LED modules rated at 60,000 hours and an ENEC-compliant constant current driver. Some of the luminaires also offer dimmable DALI driver and emergency kit options, meeting both energy saving and safety requirements.
