METU Ankara Campus Lighting Project

As Pamir Lighting, we delivered the lighting solutions for various buildings on the Ankara campus of Middle East Technical University (METU), one of Türkiye's leading universities. Across a wide range of spaces, from the library to the dormitories and from the dining hall to the sports areas, we selected products suited to the purpose of each area and created a complete lighting scheme.

In the library, we used ring-shaped Galaksi O Direct pendant luminaires. With UGR<19 glare control, these luminaires minimise glare and reduce eye strain for students reading and studying for long hours. Adapting to the scale of the space with a range of diameter options, Galaksi O provides uniform light distribution on the study desks while giving the library a modern and aesthetic identity.

In the dining hall, we chose Vega Suspend linear luminaires. Thanks to its elegant 70 mm profile that can be joined end to end, Vega created continuous lines of light along the dining tables, providing balanced and spacious lighting in the large hall.

In the dormitories, student comfort was our priority. Appliques used as bedside lights in the rooms allow students to have the light they need for reading without disturbing others in the room. In the washrooms, mirror-type appliques provide clear, shadow-free lighting in front of the mirrors. In the dormitory corridors, we achieved orderly and balanced lighting with the slim and simple Fleksi series luminaires.

In the storage areas, we used Fluent waterproof luminaires with a corrosion-resistant polycarbonate body. With its slim profile and high efficiency, Fluent offers a long-lasting solution in areas exposed to moisture and dust. On the campus football pitch, modular Radiant floodlights provide powerful and uniform lighting across the playing area, allowing sports to continue into the evening.

The luminaires used in the project feature LED modules rated at 60,000 hours and ENEC-compliant constant current drivers. Some of the luminaires also offer dimmable DALI driver and emergency kit options, meeting both energy saving and safety requirements.
